Canada Announces Funding to Support the Development of the Galore Creek Access Road

On September 20th, Natural Resources Canada announced the provisional investment of $20M in Critical Minerals Infrastructure Funding (CMIF) to support the development of the Galore Creek Access Road.

The funding, subject to further due diligence and negotiation of a funding agreement, will support the development of 43-kilometres of the Galore Creek Access Road from the Ch’iyōne Camp to the Khoh Camp in the Upper West More Valley. Completion of this access road will provide ground access to the location of the proposed Processing Facility, connecting existing infrastructure, de-risking the Project, and reducing project schedule.

GCMC wishes to express our appreciation to the federal government and Natural Resources Canada for their important investment in Canadian critical minerals. The Galore Creek deposits contain over 12 billion pounds of copper and, once in production, will significantly increase Canada’s annual copper supply essential to powering the clean economy.

“We’d like to thank Minister Wilkinson and the Government of Canada for their contribution to developing the Galore Creek Mine and, by extension, Canada’s critical minerals industry. Canada’s support for Galore Creek represents confidence in our project, our owners, the relationships we have fostered with the Tahltan Nation and our commitment to responsibly developing a world-class copper–gold mine.” Rob Mean, General Manager, Galore Creek Mining Corporation
